Black eye for journalism

It appears as though CBS has chosen to use the editing technique favored by the late night comics for a less-than-comedic effect. According to former federal judge and special prosecutor Ken Starr, a Monday evening CBS News report that characterized him as being opposed to the nuclear/Byrd option on filibusters was, in fact, creative editing. Starr was referring to the new Democrat standard of determining a judge's fitness according to their political leanings as a "radical departure" from past Senate precedent -- not the Byrd option.

Patterico has a transcript of the CBS News report. According to Starr, CBS has refused his request for a transcript of the complete interview. If Starr is right, then CBS has gotten another big black eye -- and more heads should roll, from the top on down.
