CBS News has finally released its report on the fake Bush National Guard documents story. The complete report, 200+ pages worth and affiliated documents, can be found here.
CBS has fired four people, including producer Mary Mapes, but not anchor Dan "you can take it to the bank" Rather.
I'll read the report today and hopefully have some thoughts posted this evening.
In the meantime, you're encouraged to visit Instapundit for a roundup of blogospheric comments.
The most interesting thing I've found thus far is over at Rathergate.com.
Rather informed the Panel that he still believes the content of the documents is true because “the facts are right on the money,” and that no one had provided persuasive evidence that the documents were not authentic.
Journalists are supposed to be skeptical -- that's part of the job, but if Dan Rather still believes the documents are real, then his judgement cannot be trusted. The only job that's left that Rather is qualified for appears to be as an editor over at Columbia Journalism Review.
