CBS News and the forged documents

There's been chatter going around that the report on the investigation of the forged Bush National Guard memos will come out today. I tend to think that while a Clintonesque late-Friday-afternoon-document-dump is likely, I happen to think it will be a different Friday -- the one two weeks from today.

As that report nears finality, another, parallel "investigation" now appears to be final. David Hailey, a professor at Utah State, appears to have finalized his report [PDF format] that determines the aforementioned forged documents are not forged.

For a complete analysis of Hailey's shoddy fraudulent work, check out this post over at Wizbang.

The nub of Hailey's problem as he attempted to prove the documents to be genuine can be summarized very easily: Hailey says the documents were definitely typewritten, but he cannot identify nor produce the make and model of typewriter that produced them. Apparently the Texas Air National Guard office had one of those one-of-a-kind handmade typewriters.

I'd like to apologize to graduates of Utah State, the value of that degree you received will be damaged as long as Prof. Hailey is employed at that institution.
