Moblogging

First off: LA traffic stinks -- even when I'm not driving.

It's nice to be able to read up on what the latest is on the fake Killian documents fallout. The guys over at Powerline (link on left) are all over the story for a second straight day. Apparently Dan Rather went on CNN earlier today and committed ritual journalistic suicide -- standing behind the "authenticity" of the CBS memos despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Most non-superegotistical individuals would be seriously considering the remote possibility that they'd made a mistake. Not Dan.

CBS has a far more serious problem than the fake memos story -- it has an anchorman with far less credibility than Ron Burgundy who appears determined to destroy whatever remains of the CBS news division's credibility. If Dan refuses to let an internal investigation happen, he's gonna have to be retired.

Once Dan is gone, CBS is going to have to reveal the source of the bogus documents. As I've noted before, you can't protect the source of the fraud.

If the source was Karl Rove, as Democratic operative Chris Lehane floated last night on ABC's "Nightline", then you just look stupid. If the source turns out to be someone from the DNC then, well, you look gullible -- and stupid.

The good news is that CBS doesn't have the final word on the issue.
