Virginia is for anti-Semites

It doesn’t have quite the kick that the “Virginia is for Lovers” campaign by the Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau, but apparently for WUSA 9 TV, the voters in Virginia aren’t fond of Jews (Hat tip: ThirtyAughtSix). In a promo for their sharp-as-a-bowling-ball reporter Peggy Fox, WUSA9 had this to say:

Our Peggy Fox raised Senator George Allen’s ire when she asked if he’d tried to hide his ancestry to gain the support of Virginia voters. Full Story

Virginia voters don’t like Jews? Being Jewish is a political loser in Virginia? Well, I guess WUSA knows their audience, but I wouldn’t have guessed that.

From the story itself:

Reporter Peggy Fox says she stands by her question despite the fact that Allen says he found it especially reprehensible that she would “impugn the attitudes of my mother.”

Fox says she believed it was a yes or no question and was shocked by Senator Allen’s response.

Fox is a moron. Let’s check out her question again, since the WUSA report doesn’t include it.

Could you please tell us whether your forebears include Jews and if so at which point Jewish identity might have ended?

That’s not a yes-or-no question. But I’m not surprised that Fox was shocked by the response, pretty TV reporters are regularly fawned over and the list of Fox’s stories on her bio page don’t reveal any that would be considered confrontational or hard-hitting.

Journalism. Wound. Self-inflicted.
