As I’ve said before…

Those are the words, when they come out of President Barack Obama’s mouth, should clue you in to the fact that he hasn’t said it before – he’s merely changing his mind. If you hadn’t noticed, the war in Afghanistan isn’t all unicorns and rainbows. There’s more than three months left in the year and […]

Obama to European allies: Drop dead

President Obama sent out his flack, Robert Gibbs, today to announce that the U.S. would be abandoning its plans to construct limited ground-based missile defenses in Poland and the Czech Republic. The missile defense system was targeted at preventing Iran from using its nascent nuclear capability from terrorizing our allies in Europe. (Let’s leave the […]

Honoring the fallen

Amidst all of the media overkill of Michael Jackson’s death, the sacrifices of our military men and women have gotten even shorter shrift than has been typical from much of the media. So, it was refreshing to read this piece in yesterday’s Washington Post about the return of Lt. Brian Bradshaw to the U.S. Bradshaw […]

Obama's nuclear nonsense

From the "If Bush had done it, the media and the left (but I repeat myself) would've gone ape" file: ABC News' Jake Tapper reports that the Obama administration will ignore that constitution-thing and implement a treaty without going to the senate for approval. Now, that's not really a fair characterization of what's going on. […]

Differing degrees of outrage

John Weidner over at RandomJottings notes the not-so-subtle differences in the press releases from the Obama administration after the murders of abortionist George Tiller and that of the American soldier in Arkansas. Obama has belatedly, and quietly, issued a statement about the shooting of two soldiers in Arkansas: ... "I am deeply saddened by this […]

On "torture"

I've been meaning to get around to writing a rather lengthy treatise on the techniques used on three top al Qaeda terrorists in 2002 and 2003. Unfortunately, exigent circumstances -- the mass layoffs at the Union-Tribune and my need to find a new job -- have conspired against me. In lieu of that well-written and […]

Credit where credit is due

Today, President Barack Obama reversed his earlier commitment to release a series of photos showing abuse of prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan by U.S. personnel. It should be noted that the personnel involved in abuse have been punished. Despite claims by the ACLU and their ilk, these photographs would have served no purpose other than […]

Joining me on the unemployment line

Director of the White House Military Office, Louis Caldera, has resigned. Caldera famously authorized a low-level flyover of lower Manhattan with one of the jumbo jets used to transport the president and two fighter jets causing a big scare. I did nothing so egregiously stupid to lose my job.

Disproving the 9/11 conspiracy theories

The same government that did this, could never achieve what the conspiracy nuts claim they did on 9/11/01. Workers and residents evacuated themselves from several downtown Manhattan buildings Monday morning after a low-flying Boeing 747 was spotted above the city's skyline. The aircraft was a White House plane taking part in a government-sanctioned photo shoot, […]

Obama overseas

President Barack Obama has been campaigning in Europe in recent days -- how else do you characterize having a "town hall" event in France? -- and the media covered with much aplomb his ability to get NATO to cough up 5,000 troops for this summer's elections in Afghanistan. For those who haven't been paying much […]

I'll be on the Dave Congalton Show at 4 p.m. PDT to talk about the #KristenSmart case, whether the Flores's can get a fair trial in SLO County and the role of citizen journalism and the YourOwnBackyardPodcast. Listen Live at http://920kvec.com

They don't want states, SCOTUS (at least not one that protects individual rights) or Senate. They want direct national control--& they want corporations to help implement policies & shut down expression that threatens them. I just wish they knew the definition of "fascist"
