America’s French administration

The headline requires an explanation. When I see stuff like this, I think to myself: “DeGaulle of these people.”

On Larry King Live last night, Vice President Joe Biden said Iraq "could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You're going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You're going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government."

Yeah, that’s why President Clinton gets credit for the end of the Cold War.

I know what you’re saying: “Ignore it. That’s just big mouth Biden talking crazy normal.”

The problem is, that you’ve got White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs doubling down.

Gibbs said the achievement was "putting what was broken back together and getting our troops home, which we intend to do in August of this year."

A reporter pointed out that the Status of Forces Agreement to bring troops home was signed before the president took office.

Gibbs called that agreement "something I think that the political pressure that the president, as a then-candidate, helped to bring about."

So, just so you can keep this straight:

  • Iraq is an Obama success because he, as a candidate, pressured Bush to sign a status of forces agreement after the successful surge, which Obama and Biden opposed.
  • The first stimulus and TARP, which Obama and Biden as senators pressured Bush to sign, is all Bush’s fault. Obama is the victim.

The revisionist history occurs before the ink is dry on the previous day’s newspaper.

One comment on “America’s French administration”

  1. These guys have already become a caricature of themselves. I don't believe a single word they say. I'm normally a calm guy, but whenever I see Gibbs I have an incredible urge to punch him in the mouth.
