  • President Obama is below the Mendoza line on his transparency promise. Of the 11 bills he's signed into law, only one has met his five-day public comment requirement.
  • Anthony Watts takes note of a statement by Rep. Henry Waxman on global warming and carbon emissions.

We’re seeing the reality of a lot of the North Pole starting to evaporate, and we could get to a tipping point. Because if it evaporates to a certain point - they have lanes now where ships can go that couldn’t ever sail through before. And if it gets to a point where it evaporates too much, there’s a lot of tundra that’s being held down by that ice cap...”

Watts characterizes that statement as "stunningly stupid." I think he's being generous.

  • Bjorn Lomborg has an op-ed in the New York Times arguing that money spent reducing carbon emissions would be better spent in research into alternative energy sources -- not to mention do far less damage to the economy.
  • If you haven't seen the video of Susan Boyle's performance on "Britain's Got Talent" a couple weekends back, head over to YouTube and watch it. After you've done that, check out this article by Colette Douglas Home at The Herald (U.K.).
