Hoystory reads

I recently got some books in the mail, including Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Digital Photography." The book is a pretty good primer for those who've gone out and bought a new digital SLR. However, I would suggest that Peterson's "Understanding Exposure" book is the better buy if you're only going to buy one book. Two notes […]

4th of July Fireworks

For those of you who missed the fireworks, I've got pictures here for you. These were taken in Escondido's Grape Day Park earlier this evening. First, the Marine Corps Band San Diego played. Then, there were fireworks...after the jump (out of consideration for those of you on slower speed connections).

Balboa Park

On Tuesday, I promised some more photos I took at Balboa Park with my Olympus E-500 camera. Because the file size can be a little painful for those on dial-up connections, you can find the pics after the jump.

Memorial Day

You'll find moving Memorial Day remembrances all over the blogosphere. Unfortunately, I'm not in a maudlin mood. USA vs. Canada

I went to the game this evening between the U.S. and Canada men's soccer teams. The game ended in a 0-0 tie. The biggest news of the night was soccer phenom Freddy Adu's first appearance on the men's national team, making him the youngest man to ever play for the team. Though he only played […]

I got up early Saturday morning (and stayed up late, but that's story) and headed out to Ramona for the Wildlife Research Institute's Hawkwatch program. What did I learn? Birds fly south for the Winter. For a couple months, Ramona counts as "south." A 400mm (35mm film equivalent) lens is not nearly enough for serious […]
