Civics for stooges

On this week's edition of "Fox News Watch," host Eric Burns closed the program with the bit of news that more Americans could identify the Three Stooges (leaving Curly Joe and Shemp out of the calculation) than could name the three branches of government.

Fine. There's a good number of people in America who are stupid. Jay Leno wouldn't do his "Jaywalking" feature if he couldn't come up with people who were dummer than dorknobs.

But Burns attempts to help out the not-so-educated among us by associating the branches of government with Stooges. First out of the gate? Moe always makes the final decisions for the group, like the judicial branch.

Say what?

Conservatives have been decrying the oligarchical nature of of the judiciary for decades and here comes Burns bestowing that very role upon it.

Not smart, but telling.
